The Shark-4 Servo Gearbox is a heavy-duty drive with a 4:1 external gearbox based on the Hitec HSR-M9382TH brushless servo drive. It delivers a fourfold increase in torque and precise positioning accuracy for the most demanding robotic applications.

Description

The gearbox design completely isolates the servo's internal mechanisms from external influences, transferring the load to a steel hub shaft with two ball bearings. The housing is designed with the goBILDA hole pattern, allowing components to be mounted through M4 threaded holes on either side. The output shaft has an 8mm REX profile to prevent slippage and can be used as a hollow conduit for wiring.

The device is based on the flagship brushless motor with a titanium gearbox, operating in the voltage range up to 8.4V. Control is identical to a standard servo: the device connects to R/C receivers, Arduino, Raspberry Pi or REV controllers via a standard PWM signal.

This model operates in feedback mode (positioning), but supports software switching to continuous rotation mode using the DPC-11 programmer. Due to the lack of internal modifications to the servo drive, the device is officially approved for use in FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) competitions.

For operation at maximum loads, it is necessary to use an external power source with a return current of at least 2.7 A. The equipment can be mounted either on the upper hub or directly on the aluminum gear of the gearbox using standard M4 spacers.
